Pistachio and Gaziantep

Pistachio is an indispensable part of Gaziantep culture. The city is famed for pistachio harvesting. Pistachio is a frequently used ingredient in the culinary culture of this city. Even your morning run can be among pistachio trees;)

Fıstık ve Gaziantep, ayrılmaz ikili. Son fotoğrafta fıstık şeklinde bir restoran göreceksiniz.

Iron Door Decorations

Iron door decorations. They’re always interesting for me. Especially in old Gaziantep, I have seen quite different shapes. Recently, I talked with an old iron craftsman, he said that “when I was a young apprentice, each smithery had its own figure but after machines got into the job, everyone started to produce similar things”.

“Arbeit Macht Frei”

In March 1933 a regional SA regiment established a #concentration #camp in a disused factory building in the centre of Oranienburg. In the three months after the National Socialists seized power, Oranienburg concentration camp took on a key role in the persecution of the opposition in Berlin – the capital city of the ‘Reich’. Around 3000 people were held in the camp until its closure in 1934 and at least 16 prisoners were murdered by the guards. (Source: http://www.stiftung-bg.de/gums/en/)

Changing Coffee Culture in Gaziantep

#Coffee #culture changed in different ways after #Syrian #asylum#seekers came to the Turkey. Small grocery stores started to prepare and sell coffee in front of the their shops. And new coffee brands, which target Syrian customers, produced in Gaziantep, started to appear on the shelves. ———— Suriyeli mülteciler Türkiye’ye gelirken kahve kültürlerini de getirdiler. Gaziantep’te birçok yerde görebileceğiniz bu dükkanlarda ayaküstü farklı bir kahve tadabilirsiniz. #gaziantep#turkey #kahve #everydaymiddleeast#barista #baristadaily #everydayturkey#magnumphotos #everydayphotography#صورة_اليوم #قهوه #قهوة #سوريا
